Miners' doctor faces forced office closure dispute
Ross Pentz, attorney for 350 Shawmut workers who quit after his resignation, said he will file charges over the alleged disappearance of doctor Elisabeth Hayes’s property. Hayes claimed intolerable conditions at company towns and refused to enter a private practice. She padlocked her office after a five day vacancy notice, and claims pets and equipment went missing. Authorities say no officials or Shawmut Mining Company staff were charged. The case comes amid broader action by state banking regulators tied to the Shawmut affair and the WindUp program.
