Duck Calling Champ Helps In Ringo the Mallard Rescue
Toronto humane officials enlist Ray Balakin, 38, duck calling champion and hunting supply store owner, to lure Ringo the mallard with a ringed bill into a net trap at Grenadier Pond High Park. A one quarter inch gap in her beak allows water intake but stops solids, as crowds hinder the 12 day search amid near freezing temperatures.
