Canberra, a guided missile cruiser of the U S Sixth Fleet, anchored in the Bosporus yesterday for a delayed visit to Istanbul. The ship had been set to call in October but the Turkish Syrian crisis postponed the visit. The Canberra is scheduled to stay until November 16th.
Willie Jerden 47 of near Woodbridge Va is arrested on a hit and run charge in the death of Pfc Ronald W Barton 20 of Pulaski Pa. Barton was struck Friday night along U S Route 1 near Woodbridge and died Saturday at Quantico Marine Base where he was stationed.

State Police report a freak crash about 9 PM yesterday two miles west of Corry. Garner Wilco, 44, of Pittsfield, struck by Merle Anderson, 23, Warner, as both cars traveled east on Youree Road. Collision caused minor damage estimated at 195 dollars. no injuries.
Robert Grites, 61, admitted in a signed statement that he killed Beverly Ann Eldred, 17, and Deanna Seatouch, 16, after meeting them at a Dayton beer store. He said he shot them to prevent his wife from learning of the relationship and planned to move their bodies to Colorado. Police say he drove to his mother’s home, then to Kettering and surrendered.
An American father Willan Gaveus and his Lithuania born wife Monika plus children Ruth a 16 and Ronald a 13 were reunited at Midway Airport after 11 years apart in a Siberian Communist camp.
