Dems Propose $8 Million Cut in State Corporate Taxes
In Harrisburg on May 16, the House Appropriations Committee outlined a plan by Democratic leaders to shave about $8 million from the corporate net income tax for the next two years. They say Governor James underestimated revenues by roughly $935 million in his budget of $542,009,000. The plan would also cap costs by restricting funds for county mental institutions, require $8 million owed to schools for transportation and special education, and apply the remaining $8 million to lower business taxes while tax text is revised.
