London May 17 The royal army has lost 11208 officers and men killed and missing since the start of the war, the admiralty announced last night. Of these 4260 were listed as killed in action and 644 as missing. Eighty-one others were reported to have died outside of combat.

Chicago May 17 A 28 year old Mrs Prince Adams wife of a luncheon chef gave birth to quadruplets three months premature. All four infants, girls, died within hours after birth despite artificial respiration. Frances died first, followed by Charlene Beret and Marie, each dying within minutes or hours of their sister. Mrs Adams’ cotillion described as good.

Seven Army plane crashes kill seven in Ohio
By Associated Press Columbus Ohio May 17 seven Army men died in two crashes during cyclonic winds. A Beechcraft basic combat navigation trainer from Barksdale Field Louisiana struck a hillside near Nelsonville 15 miles southeast of here.
