Raymana Varron of Corry is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of John Larson of Bradford. Two Navy pilots Lieut W W Lowrey and machinist mate J R McCants will likely receive the Navy Cross for a dramatic mid air rescue. Meadville, Pa. May 15 A local union reported the rejection of terms by Talon, Inc. and voted to strike Sunday morning unless an agreement is reached. Negotiations over pay scales had broken down, prompting the action by Slide Pastener Union No. 20%.
In Hagerstown Maryland a fire overnight gutted the former Union Hotel area now a five story apartment building. Fire officials estimated damages around forty thousand dollars with fears of spread to nearby structures in the business district. All tenants were evacuated to the street as managers noted extensive damage to the upper floors.
