Legislature Plans Beer Control Bill
Harrisburg dispatch reports plans to push a beer control bill through the Pennsylvania legislature to take effect April 7 when 3.2 percent beer becomes legal. The measure, prepared by Governor Pinchot aides and backed by Republican leaders, would designate the state department of revenue as licensing body and require permits for many mercantile depots. Revenue could fund unemployment relief, prompting a potential fight over license fee allocation to counties and cities, while dry leaders plan a Wednesday April 5 meeting to maintain the 18th amendment in the constitution.
