Funeral arrangements were under way in Pittsburgh for Cliford Heinz 51 vice president of the H J Bein g Company who died in California yesterday from pneumonia complications. He was a native of Pittsburgh and attended Hill School Pottstown Pa and Lehigh University.
Anthony Wayne Cook, founder of Cook Forest State Park, died at his home in Cooksburg Pennsylvania at age 80. A pioneer forester, he helped establish mills with his father and, with ancestral timberlands, contributed to the region’s lumber raft industry on the Clarion and Allegheny rivers, shaping the Virgin timber country’s early history.
Former Corry residents Mr and Mrs Lorengo V Briggs celebrate their sixty fifth wedding anniversary at their son Ray Briggs home in North East. The couple lived in Corry area for decades and moved to North East in 1933. They were married by Rev Cadman of the United Brethren church and remained U S church members. Friends extend felicitations on the anniversary.

In Harrisburg March 20 the Democratic led House approved four administration revenue bills, including a gasoline tax, to raise about 70.0 million for the governor's program. Votes showed near solid party support after late talks with Gov Earle. Bills included an amusement tax, tobacco tax, higher utilities receipts, and a two cent gasoline tax increase. Board members present were Lieut Gov Kennedy, Secretary Lawrence, Attorney General Margiotti, and Philip Dewey.

Patman forces won a rule allowing a roll call on Patman sponsored bills while the American Legion backed Vinson. The House faces a lengthy session with 10 hours of debate and a day for amendments. Presidential veto looms over House approval, Senate passage uncertain.
Clarence Darrow told the Senate finance committee that the NRA was created to aid big business and could not help small interests. He described his NBA review board work, said he left after his funds were unneeded, and noted the overflow crowd at the hearing held as part of NRA legislative prep.

A small force remained at the plant while picket lines were set to bar non strikers from entering. D F Manion, the president, reported the strike and efforts to file reports.
