Prisoner John Gidders Still At Large After Oil City Shootout
Northwestern Pennsylvania unresolved search continues for John Gidders, alleged to have shot Police Sergeant Walter A Powell after breaking from Oil City jail at 2 45 am Monday. He fired a 2 calibre revolver at Powell. a misfire occurred as the weapon failed to explode. Powell remains hospitalized with shoulder and leg wounds. his condition reported improving. Gidders’s wife, jailed, is accused of supplying the revolver and knowledge of the escape. Gidders arrested in Imperial hotel previously for liquor possession.

Three Hurt In Two Accidents In Westfield Area
Three persons were hurt, all seriously, in two automobile collisions near Westfield. A 27 year old man from Holley was treated at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunfrie after a crash on the road east of Westfield. A second collision near West Portland involved William Miley Keing West and a Buffalo driver named O Betts, with both drivers and a passenger suffering injuries.
