Becker to Be Tried in the Federal Court
New York June 2 Astro Charles Becker declared last night that her husband received offers to have the indictment against him quashed if he would plead. The offers, said by Mrs Becker, came from District Attorney Whitman now governor. The fight to save Becker will begin in federal courts this week with a writ of habeas corpus. If denied, Becker may seek a writ of error in the United States Supreme Court. The process mirrors the Frank case and precedes any clemency appeal to the governor.
