A $3.529 billion tax measure aimed at financing defense heads to House action after Ways and Means approval. Gen George C Marshall told a House committee the move would extend citizen soldier service. Reporters said three South American nations Brazil Bolivia and Colombia faced possible Nazi uprisings as a focal point of danger.
The Harrisburg governor accepted the resignations of major aides to the administration, raising the count of vacant posts due to death or departure. Roger W.
