Representatives of the Public Buildings Administration and city officials discussed financing for one hundred defense housing units. SWILADELPHIA July 2 A check for funds covering aid to dependent children in Pennsylvania was forwarded to the State Department of Public Assistance. Regional Director William D. DA announced the funds had been delayed pending legislation to conform state law with the Social Security Act regarding personnel and preservation of confiden tia records.
Senator Connally of Texas proposed a new draft compromise to excuse certain National Guardsmen and reserves from extended army service. He said the measure would let those with dependents or business obligations leave service if additional duty would cause undue hardship, pending War Department guidance.
City officials escalated a fight over milk sales by issuing a warrant for Second Ward distributor Frank Manwarren amid a dispute over municipal permits. Health authorities claim no permit was obtained, while council members urge strict enforcement or repeal of the milks ordinance.
