School buildings cost too much in Pennsylvania
The Philadelphia Inquirer notes state public schools lack 54 percent of funds for new buildings. While loan limits constrain districts, Bucks County reports success with Levittown schools built by Levitt & Sons at under a third the usual cost. Dr. Boehm praises the Levittown project as functionally comparable to top state schools. Some observers argue state standards push costs higher than needed.
