Search parties sought the crashed plane near Niméudinsk near two thirds of the way to Tokyo. The party requested air assistance and authorities were inclined to help. Detroit Man and Erie Girl Die in Lake Erie Incident
Detroit sled manufacturer Harry J. Marks 25 and his 17 year old Erie companion Miss Phyllis Klingensmith drowned near Orchard Beach on Lake Erie. Their three year old daughter Bobbie was aboard and survived. A coroner ruled the deaths accidental after more than an hour of efforts to revive them.
