Die Mungel to Face Septem ber Trials on Assault Charges
Willie Die Mungel already convicted of second degree murder for the February shooting of Skates Davis must answer three assault with intent to kill charges. His attorney Joseph Scarry says he will plead not guilty, aiming for trial in September. District Attorney Damian McLaughlin expects no more than the 20 year federal murder sentence. The gun duel also wounded Det. Sgt. Paul DiDionisio Lena Mac Stokes and Walter Coleman.

Four Men Killed in Plant Blast
Four men were killed when a ton of explosives detonated at the DuPont powder plant in Seneca. A 20 by 20 foot frame building was destroyed leaving a ground crater. two dozen hundred pounds of gel cartridge materials were in the plant at the time. Coroner Clark Davis said only parts of the victims were recovered with no further casualties. Company officials could not determine a cause due to extensive destruction.
