Some areas are beginning to feel the squeeze as industries note shortages in trained personnel.
Two teens from Walon City, Betty Smith 19 and Glass Steenrod 16, were hospitalized after a one car crash six miles west of Cory on Route 86. The sedan, driven by Steenrod, swerved on a wet roadway and struck a concrete bridge, causing injuries including a fractured arm, knee injuries, and hip distortion. A second accident occurred at 5:15 p.m. nearby injuring John Mishetlez, 86, with brush burns and abrasions. A third incident involved a station wagon carrying Elbeth Michtwlez. no serious injuries reported. Police indicate a driver in the Dundon crash fled the scene. vehicle damage estimated at about $600.
Washington July 12 The nations biggest publishers are accused by the Federal Trade Commission of unfairly aiding book clubs over retail stores. The six firms including Doubleday Harper and Company Little Brown and Co and Houghton Mifflin faced a 20 day response window with a September hearing. Several firms denied wrongdoing while others said they were studying the complaint.
Stevens, 78, renowned drama critic for Chicago, New York, and San Francisco papers, died of a heart attack at his home last night while traveling. He was famed for wit and sharp critique across major U.S. newspapers.
Ajax Iron Works granted its third wage increase of the year. At Matamoras Airport in Peninsylvania, two jet trainer planes diverted to Brew Art Air Force Base Newburgh after fuel shortage. One jettisoned fuel and belly landed. the other landed on grass. Both craft damaged. pilots escaped unharmed.
