Mrs Isabelle Longstreet of Wattsburg was the other driver. both cars suffered damage. The incident occurred around 11 15 p m at the stop sign.
Washington July 14 The battle over wage and price controls continues as congressional Democrats and Republicans trade charges. Secretary of Commerce Sawyer says controls will stay until inflation subsides while a House-Senate clash delays a final bill. Rep Dollinger says Democrats control but Republicans press for tougher action amid partisan brinksmanship. The dispute underscores broader economic policy battles as Congress reconvenes.
Monday marks the cutoff for Derby entries with Bos Car Derby set for July 30. More than 20 applicants aged 11 to 15 compete. many failed to retain eligibility after filing. Winners may receive the two bicycles and baseball gear on display at Pennsylvania Electric Company.
The Corry Post Office received a Washington warning about counterfeit and altered postal money orders of new forms issued July 1. A Covington, Kentucky housewife, Rose Mary Ford, age 26, was arrested after altering orders to up to 100 dollars and cashing them with false name and address. Inspectors say she dyed the altered forms turquoise blue and used household chemicals to adjust amounts. Also noted, Frame Andrew March of Clearfield, Pa, has been named deputy assistant director of Hiski operations for the Office of Price Stabilization, a native of Clearfield and longtime management engineer in government defense offices.
Sales Management's buying power survey shows Corry residents earned more per family than U S and Middle Atlantic averages in 1950. Net earnings totaled 14 793 000 with per family average 5 916, while local cash registers tallied 11 309 000 in spending. The study places Corry 36 percent above the national average in market quality.
In Lincoln England on Ty 14 the whole seven man crew perished when a four engined Lincoln bomber plunged into a pasture and burned. The aircraft, Britain's largest piston engined bomber aside from 703 295, was cited as having received the RAT from the United States. It was the second major RAF crash within 86 hours after a twin engined transport crash killed ten aboard.
City residents toured the centennial Erie railroad exhibit spanning two hours. In the Corry area yesterday afternoon three youths were admitted to the Comy Hospital while a fourth was treated and released after a farmed home accident. Cleon Vanderhoot, 19, was injured when a rifle discharged while a youth was fetching it in a field, causing a bullet wound to the left foot. Kurtis Hires and Edward Moore, both youths from nearby farms, were hospitalized overnight or released after treatment for injuries from a tumble down stairs and other minor wounds.
Fairfield Conn July 14 A 48 year old physician Dr Donald F Gibson of Danbury is indicted for manslaughter in the death of Elizabeth M Ayers a 74 year old spinster The grand jury also indicted another Danbury doctor Dr Frank T Gehovey in connection with the affair.
A radio report states that red forces in Korea agreed in principle to neutralize Koe song and permit no more than 20 correspondents in the area. The broadcast is signed by two top Reds in Korea.
Seoul July 14 Assailed by Pyongyang the Red radio said in principle it would renew cease fire talks, while Ridgway demanded a properly signed message and limited press access. Both sides pressed for conditions as UN and Allied delegates prepared to resume negotiations at Kaesong amid mixed signals and warnings.
