Baton Rough La Jan 28 Sen Huey P Longs effort to stamp out his newest opposition with military force aided in signal failure because opposition leader had been tipped off to his plan and had hidden all pertinent records of their Square Deal Association. An informant said Long is desperate and scared, with Square Dealers leader Ernest L Bourgeois and others in hiding as rolls showing the association's extensive Louisiana organization were seized to threaten reprisals and deter disloyalty.
Washington June 2 administration plans to enlist organized labor as shock troops to win state support for the social security program. Heads of state labor federations will confer with Secretary of Labor Frances Perkins to press legislatures to adopt all age pensions and unemployment insurance plans matching the federal pattern.
Senator Joseph Guffey urges Pennsylvania officials to draft public works plans now to access the proposed 4 billion federal relief fund.
