Chicago January 26 three people died and two were wounded as Henry Arden, 27, a University of Chicago graduate paralyzed, shot a relief investigator at home then attacked a Dearborn Street relief station with his mother. Victims were Mrs R W Arden 52 Miss Alice Twin 28 and Miss Carolite Wallace 45 relief supervisor. Two other relief workers injured as they fired into a crowd of over 100 office staff.
A 16 year old Edward Foster begins a 1400 mile trek from Anderson with a 20 pound load, after accepting a reform offer that replaces three years in a reformatory. He will make 21 mile round trips to Alexandria on Saturdays for 80 days, biking alongside his companions as part of the sentence.
