My Lai charges dropped as four enlisted men freed

AP dispatch reports that all charges against the four remaining enlisted men in the My Lai massacre have been dropped, leaving three officers still charged with murder. The same wires note US hastened up to 80 tons of war material to Cambodia and a Phoom Penh government office blast.

Charges Dropped in My Lai Case Four Officers

The Army dropped all charges against four Ga in the My Lai case nine days after a co-defendant's acquittal. Remaining are Lt. William L. Calley Jr and Capt. Ernest Medina plus Capt. Eugene Kotouc for murder and related offenses. Other officers face dereliction of duty in a coverup. The announcement came from Lt Gen. Albert Connor at 3rd Army Headquarters after review and consultation with Army legal authorities.

Corral Con Artists Near Warren Rob Woman

Two men, Robert A. Joy and Gerald R. Miller, were jailed on larceny charges after posing as gas company workers to swindle an elderly South Side woman of over $2,000 in cash and $1,000 in jewelry and items. They were captured near Sheffield and held in Warren County Jail in bonds. Police said the suspects forged a heating scam and were linked to a larger theft ring with warrants issued by Justice Martha Lawson.
