Formidable Sunk in English Channel. 700 Feared Dead
British warship Formidable, sunk in the English Channel, leaves over 700 of its 780 crew missing or dead. The Admiralty cites uncertain cause, with German submarines active nearby. Survivors may be few as icy waters and wreckage hinder rescue. Other reports note strategic battles in the Argonne and shifting fronts in Poland and the Middle East.
