Bazzone, held in the county jail at Pittsburgh for transfer, faced four years.
Amblers Pennsylvania February 18. Four hours after a car collision Frank Donches of Palmerton Carbon County was found dead in a stream near the accident. Police Chief James Ottinger believes Donches may have fallen down a 16 foot embankment and collapsed in the water during the confusion after the crash. It is not yet clear whether he drowned or died of injuries.
February 18 report from Harrisburg states the United States Army asks Pennsylvania to provide 3776 inductees under the selective service system. Major General W S Grant, commander of the third corps at Baltimore, requests 3600 white men and 175 negroes for induction stations in Philadelphia Wilkes Barre Harrisburg Altoona and Pittsburgh between March 11 and 20. Officials began processing the requisition immediately with expected delays.
