Corry guardsmen of Company A, 28th Division, mobilized for four years under the national defense program and will train at the State Armory until February 26 before entraining to Indiantown Gap. One hundred two men completed the driving, meals provided by the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, and many will stay at home evenings. First Lieut. Pittsburgh February 17 The Howard Heinz estate proceeds to the Howard Heinz Endowment after the death of Howard Heinz food company executive. The will provides most of the estate to the endowment, with a rare annual income to his wife and terms to be probated today. Prior arrangements were made for other bequests.
Guy W. Waldron a 61 year old Union City resident suffered severe head lacerations a jaw fracture and multiple other injuries after being hit by a Plymouth car driven by Paul G. McGray of Bigin and then struck by a truck driven by RB Bulines of Oil City Police opened an inquiry and reported Waldron remained in serious condition with fears of possible fatal outcome. The accident occurred west of Union City near Rolite Saturday morning. Nearby wreckage included a Busuk car skid from the highway and a telephone pole near North Clymer. Berlin reported 78 British planes downed in the latest period.
Wayne Ardery was held for court on a charge of involuntary manslaughter arising from a fatal auto accident near Meadville. The incident occurred as Joseph Pensica died after a collision, with Ardery taken before Alderman Orminte for the action.

New Castle Pa February jury found Arthur Dean 35 guilty of first degree murder in a knife slaying of his sister in law Helen Nassal. Judge W Walter Braham sentenced him to life imprisonment after details of the stabbing were presented, with Nassal left in a vacant lot.
Pittston, Pa. February 17. Fire caused about $60,000 in damage to three local stores. Officials quoted estimates breaking down losses at Greenfield, C. Penny, and others, with several thousand dollars per store. Police and fire crews investigated the blaze.
