Harrisburg reports a surge of anti tax lobbyists amid Governor Warle's 22 point plan to raise 203 million for two years. Utilities motor clubs and big business push to defeat or modify taxes affecting rate cuts and retroactive capital stock taxes.
A capacity audience attended the second and final showing at the Junior High school auditorium for the Health Fund benefit entertainment. Over five hundred children participated, with Miss Beatrice Shafer and Miss Elizabeth Smith leading the effort. Virginia Bars assisted with costumes while teachers and many parents aided with plans. PTA members meet Tuesday for a final report on proceeds to fund health work in schools.
Judge D A Arird in Warren County court handed down an opinion in the Columbus Township School District cases. The opinion favors loaning to the schol directors and holds auditors deficient in duties while placing record costs on the school district with each party paying own witnesses. The Journal cannot publish more today. chief provisions will appear early next week.
Gov. George H. Earl e leans on the Sterling committee report to cut government costs. Proposals include consolidating agencies, eliminating duplicates, and shifting supervision of penal and correctional institutions to the justice department. The highway patrol could also be consolidated, with field offices streamlined for about 300,000 dollars annual savings.

State Police arrested John Rupp and Theodore Machin ski yesterday afternoon in connection with thefts from the D. J. Bennett farm in Wayne Township. Most of the loot was recovered at Rupp's farm, and both men pled guilty at Wesleyville hearing, then remanded to Erie County Jail. The tool house was burgled twice this week, with blacksmith tools stolen. Police investigations traced the arrests to Friday in Lawrence Park.
Two 16 year old boys, Theodore Jones and Henry Grob, were awarded sole title to $28,872 in gold coins found in a South Side house cellar. Judge O'Dunne ruled the youths had the rightful claim, dismissing other owners and claimants. Face value of coins is $11,420, while numismatic value pushed total to $28,872 per federal agents.
Berlin reports two women, including Baroness Benita von Berg, were condemned for espionage at the people's court and sentenced to be beheaded. two other Reichswehr secretaries received life terms. The cases arise from the Sosnowsky espionage affair with Adolf Hitler holding pardoning power.
Constable Tiffany, jailed in Erie county for failing to pay $166.19 in costs tied to the arrest of Mrs. Katherine Elchynski of East Main Street, was remanded after failed attempts to secure a bondsman. Sheriff Dell Darling ordered collection within ten days, as Tiffany remained in custody without funds to meet the assessment.
Hollywood, Cal, February 16. Merlin H. Aylesworth of NBC announced plans to build a television theatre in Hollywood within a year. The studio will originate programs and house radio actors, with talent concentrated locally. NBC may move television work from Camden, New Jersey, once technical work ends, as RCA director Aylesworth weighs when TV sets will reach homes.
Detroit dated report describes Aren' lis Hofshsnesism a 60 year old farmer who killed a man and wounded three others as he roamed through Livingston county at dawn. He wounded two of his nine children Sophie 16 critically with a head wound and John wounded less seriously. Abraham Archletian and Hofshanesism were slain by police after the farmer was killed.
Lawrence Webb age nine reportedly confessed to Sheriff O N Wider that he killed 12 year old Alice Marie Prim with a shotgun last Friday. The boy said he did not realize the gun was loaded.
Franklin Pa February 1 The Allegheny river ice jam at noon showed alarming growth with water backing up and the river rising to about 12 feet observed at Belmar. The ice pack compacted five miles south near Mastandy, pounding the East Sandy bridge and threatening it as warmer weather might ease the jam.

In Harrisburg on February 1 officials of the Philadelphia Reading Coal and Iron Co faced blame for the January 21 Gilberton colliery explosion that killed 18 and wounded 51. A state mine inspectors commission found company officials violated the ventilating act and were responsible for the accident. The report also cited employing more than 75 men in the gas-affected mine.
