Sponge fishing boat tragedy uncovered near Cedar Keys

Five bodies were recovered aboard the burned hull of the sponge boat Xios, missing since November 1933, found 12 miles off Cedar Keys. Divers recovered diving helmets and skeletons of two sponge fishermen in 86 feet of water, with three more skeletons in the hull. The Xios operated out of Tarpon Springs.

A jury in Erie county court acquitted Mrs Katherine Elehynske of B Mainstreet of violating liquor laws by selling to a visibly intoxicated person. The verdict placed all costs on Constable L R Tifany of the Fourth Ward. The arrest followed an earlier indictment, with defense by Samuel V. Nine Killed In British Hydroplane Crash Near Messina

In Sicily, a British air force hydroplane from squadron 201, a Short Singapore model, crashed on a mountain near Messina during a test flight from London to Singapore. Two bodies were recovered. nine occupants were believed killed. Three aircraft later joined the search. two bodies were found but not identified.

Father and Son Banquet by Boy Scout Troop 70 in St Pauls Church

Boy Scouts of Troop 70 hosted the first Father and Son banquet at St Pauls Church at 6 45 pm. About fifty covers were set for a baked jam dinner served by mothers and friends. San Francisco February 15 reports say crew members who occupied the stern of the dirigible Macon when it began to disintegrate appeared before a naval board of inquiry. Lt. Albanis and others testified about possible structural weaknesses or weather as the cause while Lt. Com Jesse Kenworthy said a heavy gust and internal shock likely tore the ship apart.
