Washington March 14 Senator Walsh of Montana lost his bid to force a Senate inquiry into the public utilities industry. In Covington Indiana February 16 the bodies of two Lafayette deputy sheriffs Wallace McClure and John Groye were found in woods near Covington. They had disappeared with two prisoners over a week earlier after leaving Lafayette for the Pendleton State Reformatory. The deputies and prisoners were last seen in Dansville Illinois.
Senator Jas A Reed of Missouri announces a stump tour to the South and Midwest, aiming to boost his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination against Al Smith. A morning blaze at Bear Lake swept through Clyde Hotchkiss’s service garage damaging three cars and burning the frame building. Insurance partly covers the loss, with estimates ranging from two to four thousand dollars. A Buick and a Sherman-owned car were destroyed, and the fire date and exact origin remain under review.
B W Davis general superintendent of the Pennsylvania Railroad with Buffalo headquarters rode a special car through the city today on his way to Florida. He arrived with a noon Buffalo train and stayed until the afternoon Erie train to board the special with Mr and Mrs James Thomson for a Florida sojourn lasting several weeks.
Steve Porch John Matthews and Fred Williams were found guilty Wednesday afternoon in Erie County Court on breaking entering and larceny charges for robbing the Lewis and Williams store in Union City.
