Corry Native Killed In Erie County Crash

A head on collision two miles north of Wattsburg on Route 8 near Erie killed Rex Ireland a 19 year old Corry resident and Harry Parker 47 of Erie. Victoria Parker 92 of Erie remained in critical condition with others injured. Police believe Ireland may have fallen asleep at the wheel. Funeral arrangements set for Corry.

Rain Threat Looms Over Western Pennsylvania Flood Risk

Hostages Escape From Cincinnati Home Isolated Standstill

Six of eight hostages escaped a Catherine Booth Home in Cincinnati after being abducted by Jesse Coulter Friday night. A remaining duo was with Coulter inside the building armed with a knife and scissors as officers wrestled control of a sawed-off shotgun. Police reported all released and inside captives unharmed and described the scene as an all-night stalemate.

Courtroom Slaying After Losing Civil Case in Florida

In Fort Lauderdale a 68 year old widow Elizabeth Duncan shot and killed George Kissak 62 in a Broward County Courthouse after a five day civil trial over a $42 000 Imperial Point house. Witnesses say Kissak had the deed altered to his name and Duncan would lose the home. bailiff George Tretakis disarmed her.

City Income Tax Stable as Miller Resigns Two Jobs

The Combined Earned Income Tax committee reported stable city revenue with 1975 at 438,476 and 1976 at 45.16. William E. Miller resigned as income tax receiver and city assessor for health reasons, effective April 16, and had also left his Corry Area High teaching post. Mrs. Hubley will assume the income tax receiver role, while Roger Lankberry was chosen to head the committee.

Pair Begin Walk Across Lake Erie

ERIE Pa AP After kissing their women goodbye Bob Bliss and Brian Kinal began hiking at dawn today across the frozen expanse of Lake Erie. They planned a 24 mile trek to Long Point Ont with a secret departure to avoid spectators. The two men both from Findley Lake New York wore thermal gear used inflatable life vests and carried a 15 foot rope. They expected an eight hour crossing and planned a return walk Sunday if safe.

CAHS Rides Help In Classroom By Beverley Kenniston

Ten junior and senior high students spend four weeks in other classrooms acting as teacher aides at Concord Elementary. They walk about ten minutes from the high school to assist teachers, correct papers, run the ditto machine, decorate bulletin boards, and aid librarians. The program aims to help elementary teachers, prepare students for high school, and enrich high school participants by sharing responsibility as co-workers.
