Snowy Corry Area Hit By 13 Inch Storm

A blinding snowstorm struck the Corry area closing roads and schools. Weather recorder Mrs Richard Mountain reports 13 inches fell last night. Corry Area High School and several districts including Girard Albion closed. State Police noted few accidents as most motorists stayed home. Street crews labored 14 hours to clear cities while GenTel and Penelec crews restore services. Snow will diminish to flurries with cold mid teens today.

Corry Area Joint School Committee hires new staff

The Corry area school panel hired Bussell J. for business manager duties and James B. Kemp as Wright School principal, with Kemp holding a bachelor’s from Lock Haven and a master’s from Rutgers. They also added two teachers, approved a military leave, and upgraded another educator after completing additional college credits.

Violent Earthquake Hits Southwest U S

Corry Area Joint Schools plan downgraded to feasibility study

The Corry Area Joint School Board’s 10-year plan for new buildings and curriculum was deemed not to meet state criteria due to failure to include Sparta Merged School. The ruling, issued by the state Department of Education, blocks state approval pending court outcomes. If Sparta remains separate, the plan may be scaled back. if Sparta joins, the plan must expand accordingly.

Will It Be Gym Or No For Varsity Athletes

Corry Area High School faces a vote on whether varsity athletes must still take gym classes.
