A 28 year old Fairview woman, Nancy A. Simpson, died when her car collided with an ambulance responding to a nearby house fire in Erie. The coroner attributed death to a fractured skull after she was thrown from the car and struck her head on the curb.
In Waynesville Ohio a 1-year-old girl Shirley Beal died while en route to Hamot Hospital after a collision with an Erie Ambulance. Norman Nichols 18 of Dixon and Raymond Beal 37 were involved. two ambulance attendants were treated and released. Coroner ordered an autopsy to determine death cause.
The New York Central ordered 30 Erie GE U25B 2500 horsepower diesel-electrics for high speed freight service. Delivery is slated for mid 1904. The U25B uses a GE 16 cylinder diesel engine, two two-axle trucks, and a 2400 gallon fuel tank, with top speed 70 mph.
