Queen Louise Aground Off Swann Beach After Collision

The Queen Louise, a four hundred ton steel vessel, ran aground off Swann Beach following a rudder failure and drifted forty miles off course. Captain Long of the Swann Beach saving station reported the grounding at 4:40 AM. crew were evacuated by crane and life boats, with one cabin boy shot in the leg but overall crew safe and remaining aboard for the moment. The vessel was en route from Wales to New York with tin ore for the Standard Oil Company.
