High Paid Residents To Pay Most Of State Income Tax
Harrisburg AP reports that higher income families would pay the bulk of the five percent state income tax proposed by Gov. Shapp. Government figures show about 75 percent of revenue would come from households earning over $10,000 annually. The plan includes a net income basis and a family adjustment credit that eliminates tax for a four-person family with $2,500 taxable income but taxes $240 at $4,300 and $250 at $5,000, depending on credits.
