Town liner Town sinks on Lake Michigan tragedy

The Goodrich Line boat Town, one of its newest highliners, sank about three miles off the Chicago river mouth in Lake Michigan. Officers and crew were safely landed at Recreation Pier by a government crew under Captain Garland A. Tug joined in rescuing men seen clinging to debris after a heavy jam of broken jack(o). The Town, 220 feet long, had been built only a few years.

Train Six Delayed From Engine Derailment Near Meadville

Train No 6 running from Chongo and New York to Corry arrived seven or later each evening but was held for more than three hours last night. Officials said the delay was caused by an engine derailment west of Meadville delaying transfers from the county seat. Passengers awaiting the New York train were inconvenienced and had to wait through the evening.

Dodd Mill Transferred to New Grand Valley Owner

The W A Dodd grist mill at North Cory is transferred to Mr Thomas of Grand Valley. Inventory of plant and stock completed and possession given to the new owner. Mr Dodd will move from the city.

Theft of cloak leads to arrest after city dance

Last night at Pythias Mall a cloak belonging to Miss Hthel Taijeh disappeared from an ante room during a dance. A man matching one description was found at the depot with gloves and a handkerchief. he was held on larceny and stolen property charges after witnesses identified the items. A second man found at the depot was released. the primary suspect was bound over to county court for trial after conflicting stories were explored by police and witnesses.

Dynamiter Formally Arrested After Bridge Bombing Attempt

Warner Van Horn, sought by Canada for an explosives plot against the International bridge, was today formally arrested here. Local officials served a warrant charging malicious damage to public property from dynamite blasts beneath the bridge, with Justice George Smith issuing the warrant.

Dry Hotels Fight for New Licenses

Meadville February 4 United Press reports six men refused licenses last year are back in court as Judge Prather reconvenes hearings. The Schwarts Hotel in Titusville and manager George Schwarts claim bar receipts dropped fifty percent. patrons sought cheaper lodging with beer at other venues. The six applicants plan to file appeals this year, with proceedings expected to continue into Monday.

Georgia Physician Lynched by Mob Near City

Atlanta reports Dr Khilbart ton a White physician was shot and murdered by a mob at daybreak after being hunted following a rumored affair. The assailants dragged him from a hiding place near the town and killed him. his body was found nearby. The victim, Cutbertson, had contentious ties and was known in the city for prior incidents.

Walter Merrick of the Acme Milling Company elected president of the Western New York and Pennsylvania Retail Feed Dealers Association at a recent Buffalo Hotel Statler shooting event. Merrick, a long-time local plant leader, was among the first to help form the association and is well known in the business.

Alec Harrington Dies After Illness in Meadville

Alec Harrington died last night at Spencer Hospital Meadville after nearly three months of illness from a severe complication of disease following chronic heart trouble. He was formerly with Hotel Grandin in this city and a member of the Corry lodge of B. I. K. A. He is survived by his mother in Meadville. Funeral services and interment will be held in Meadville. time not announced.

Ober pays fine in police court after disorderly conduct

Charles Obertiuroa, repeatedly in trouble, appeared before Magistrate Shields for a wild disorderly act on the city streets. He was fined seven dollars plus costs and warned that another appearance would bring jail time. Officer Morrie reported the incident.
