Nine Men Cremated at Mayburg Tragedy

By United Proya Warren Feb 8 nine men were cremated early this morning after an explosion at Mayburg just thirty miles south of the city. Two others fatally wounded and four seriously injured. Fire broke out in the bunk house of the Tiinn Valley Chemical Company after a stove exploded. Only two men were identified, Jow Blanthlaus and Dertint Maria. Six others died in the flames and the injured were taken to Summit Hospital.

Berlin Reports New Drive Toward Warsaw Enters Bloodiest Stage

United Press dispatches from Berlin recount a new phase in General Von Mackensen’s drive toward Warsaw with the village of Humín captured after three days of fierce fighting and several thousand prisoners taken. Reports also note Turkish detachments firing on each other near Baghdad and German forces reinforcing from Lisbon to Angelica in Africa. Petrograd reports Warsaw frontline checks and heavy German forces moving toward the Bowkild pass to assist Austria. Paris notes artillery exchanges and French lines under strain along the Alsne and near Lens with continued activity on the Vosges. In Corry, Pa., a chamber of commerce meeting drew a larger crowd as Mayor McComb urged cooperative civic action and explained the chamber’s purpose and potential benefits for local development.

Harrisburg Feb 8 The Women's Suffrage resolution to submit the amendment to a popular vote was read and passed through the gap and reading flags.
