Erie detectives and District Attorney Herbert J Johnston Jr questioned a man and a woman in connection with the death of Eleanor Free 40 found strangled in her home. More than 50 people have been questioned and four detective teams are at work.
Elton H. Moore’s funeral rites were conducted yesterday afternoon at Spitzer Funeral Home Clymer with Rev. Elmer Armes officiating. Interment followed in Holland Cemetery Clymer. Bearers were six Sherman IOOF members Erick Scheller Ludwig Newburg and Wesley Hyde. Attendees from away included Merle Kinshead and others from Webster Jamestown Sherman and Edinboro.
An unidentified assailant threw garbage at Mrs. Sirimayo Bandarapakse, the woman premier of Ceylon, as she opened a suburban hospital. The attack missed her but struck a polio patient. A man, whose identity was kept secret, was arrested.
Daniel C Rickerson 87 of R D 1 Spring Creek died yesterday at Corry Memorial Hospital after two weeks as a patient. He was born February 17 1875 at State Line NY and lived most of his life in Spring Creek. Survived by daughter Edna Pierce two sons Joby Spar tansburg and Donald Corry three stepdaughters four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral Monday at 1 p m Bracken Funeral Home with Rev Robert Pier officiating. Interment Spring Creek Cemetery. Friends may call today and tomorrow.
A Christmas fire damaged the home of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Smith in Guys Mills while they visited relatives in Englewood Colorado. Harry Heath found the blaze and notified Randolph Volunteer Fire Company at 5 a.m. Fire units from Blooming Valley Cochranton Townville West Mead Noyes and East Mead battled the flames. contents were destroyed.
Firefighters said a blaze in a home did not destroy it but caused damage after a deep freeze. The origin pointed to the furnace in the cellar, likely aided by an automatic stoker on the coal furnace. No damage estimate was provided.
The body is at Brock Funeral Home with calling hours 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral service set for 1 p.m. Monday. Burial in Sprint Creek Cemetery.
