Pitt Campus Boosts Titusville Economy
An estimated 780000 dollars was added to Titusville's economy by the University of Pittsburgh Titusville campus during its first two years in operation. Dr. Joe M. Ball, campus president, says total impact could exceed 2 million by 1970 through construction spending, budget operations, and student expenditures. Renovations to McKinney Hall and Bentrolt Davis Memorial labs accounted for about 193000 dollars, mostly spent locally. The first two years’ operating budget totals 37000 dollars, including salaries and rentals, while student spending is about 100000 dollars in the first two years. Estimates assume 500 dollars per trimester for nonresident students and 300 dollars for locals, covering room, board, clothing, and sundry items. About 45000 dollars was spent in year one, with projected 135000 dollars for 1964-65 due to enrollment growth.
