An October 30 briefing promised test borings at three Columbus dam sites would begin within a week or two. A 70 year old Titusville woman, Ethel M. Hanes, died at Titusville Hospital after a two car crash on Route 8 in Hydetown. Sonne listed fractured skull and other injuries as the cause.
Hotel Corry is set to reopen shortly after January, nearly a year after closing. Michael Manendo of Waterford, signing leases with Citizens Corry Office of the Marine Bank, will assume active management. The hotel will operate under its prior plan with bar and dining facilities, private rooms, and staff rehiring efforts ongoing. Minor redecorating is planned for parts of the building.

The Life of Riley star William Bendix, 38, lies near death from pneumonia and malnutrition at Good Samaritan Hospital. Daughters Stephanie, 20, Lorraine, 30, tend to him as doctors treat stomach ulcers he had in 1955. Bendix sued CBS last May for about 2.058 million over a Prygevision show and breach of contract. the suit was settled for undisclosed terms.
In Saigon two American officers Maj Woodrow Watsen and Sgt J C Dominick Sansone died in a C122 paratroop plane crash near Da Nang while training for operations against the Communists in South Vietnam. Thirty six Vietnamese soldiers also died. another American is presumed drowned crossing a river near the Laos border. The 288th American combat death in South Vietnam is reported since December 1961. The crash, kept secret for two days, involved U S forces advisers and Vietnamese Special Forces. Continued on Page Two.
U S ambassador to the UN Adlai Stevenson on a TV program said the Vietnam issue cannot be resolved by the United Nations. He noted Geneva accords placed peacekeeping authority with the International Control Commission and that UN action would duplicate existing control. He also said he did not know when Russia will resume UN peacekeeping payments.
