Pay Raises Debate Delays Budget Actions in Franklin

Franklin council members debated next year’s department salaries with three of five offering no increases. King Welshans and Daniels did not seek raises, while Mayor Mammolite proposed 5403 for police raises and Scanlon asked 480 for parks funding. King urged a single informal budget session and noted salaries are generally decided by the council as a whole. Daniels was the only member to cut his department’s total, with King citing an $8,670 reduction and a total proposed budget of $544,278. He warned figures could change and criticized the council for not estimating budgets earlier.
