UNITED NATIONS, N.Y. AP A Soviet U S clash looms over a U N resolution to make all members pay for Congo and Middle East peacekeeping costs. The US backed measure cites the World Court July advisory that such expenses are organization costs borne by members as apportioned by the General Assembly. A companion proposal would create a working group to propose financing methods by next April. Brig J Price of Canada planned to introduce both resolutions in the Assembly budget committee. Soviet delegates privately said they will vote against accepting the court opinion and would not pay any share.
Heavy fog blanketed New York and Canadian sections along Lakes Erie and Ontario causing halted ships and planes and hazardous driving. Corry area highway accidents over the weekend involved a car and a deer a car and a house a car and a car and a loose wheel according to state police. The incidents began Saturday at 9:45 p m one mile west of Corry in Concord Township when Dale Fralick drove across an embankment after failing to stop at a T intersection. He was slightly hurt with a $100 bail set. The most unusual crash occurred at 1:30 a m Sunday when Victoria Marzken 88 of Erie failed the right curve north of Union City Route 8 ran off swiped the Babcock home and damaged the parked car and home. Estimated losses totaled 300 to the Marzka life 100 to the Babcock auto and 50 to the home. Possible charges were pending. At 3:55 p m Sunday two Titusville residents were injured when their small compact car hit a deer five miles south of Union City Route 8. Arthur Hall 61 admitted with facial and head lacerations and a bruised left hip. His wife Mabel 58 driving not admitted with a bruised right hip. Police said the deer jumped onto the hood causing the car to roll and stop on its left berm. Continued on Page Eight. There were no injuries.
Ray mond E Timmons, 47, remained at large as police searched for him in the slayings of two Birdaboro men last week. He was reportedly seen near his Lincoln home in Lancaster County over the weekend. A 30 39 caliber rifle was found abandoned in a creek near Wernersville, and he has been missing since the Tuesday night shooting.
