Fine Contractor For Illegal Sewer Installed Without Permit Pittsfield Township
Pittsfield Township resident and Russell contractor faced charges for installing a sewage disposal system without a permit. Harry Haskins of Russell was fined 100 dollars and 11 dollars costs by District Magistrate Regis Thompson after the case. Carl Atkins had charges dismissed but must comply with the ordinance within 30 days. The action was brought by Secretary Carl Durlin of the Pittsfield Township Supervisors.

ERIE AP The body of a man slain in what State Police called gangland fashion was identified as 26 year old ex convict George Veronis of Erie. Veronis had served four years for armed robbery and was one of four men convicted in a 1966 motel holdup spree. The body was found face down in a ditch near McKean Borough with eight bullet wounds. A relative confirmed the identification about 24 hours after discovery. A separate item notes a Seventh day Adventist Church “Gymnasium for Christ” team touring U.S. communities this summer with 30 students performing music and gymnastics and sharing their faith.
