Musmanno Named Alternate Delegate to Democratic Convention
Justice Michael A. Musmanno of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court will serve as an alternate delegate at the Democratic National Convention in Atlantic City. His selection aims to heal wounds from the April primary battle with Genevieve Blatt, who leads the party’s nomination fight after contesting 6,000 ballots. The caucus emphasized unity behind President Johnson and any running mate, with Musmanno stressing constitutional suffrage rights of those ballots. The Pennsylvania delegation, with 125 votes, is expected to support unity and plan a few campaign appearances, including a September 10 dinner in Philadelphia.

Seek To Limit Picketing At Struck Paper
In Youngstown Ohio a Common Pleas Court hearing resumed on a request by the strikebound Vindicator for a temporary injunction to curb picketing and curb alleged intimidation of workers crossing lines. Local 11 and the American Newspaper Guild deny intimidation, arguing the NLRB has jurisdiction. The Vindicator ran an eight page edition Sunday drawing traffic jams around the plant. Two teens were treated after a scuffle over paper copies and to appear in juvenile court. A federal mediator says no negotiations are scheduled to resume after the strike began Tuesday night.
