A two vehicle collision near Pittsfield left two women dead and numerous others injured. Alice Napper 53 of Sherina mistook Route 27 for Route 6 and collided head on with James Ross 4 of Corry, who died alongside Mrs. Rose Sherman 83 and Miss Agnes Sherman 81. Six in the Ross car were hospitalized including Vern Carter 16 and Marie Carter 23, all listed in serious condition.
