Teenager Held Over Death of Haverford Boy
Owen Lawrence, 18, of Haverford Township, is held by the Navy in connection with the death of 14 year old Richard Papieres whose body was found in a makeshift grave near Philadelphia suburb. Joseph Kelly, 18, also of Haverford, is held as a witness and an accessory after the fact. Police say the trio were fooling around in a car when Papieres was told to get out. Lawrence allegedly drove toward him, intending only to tap him, but struck and killed him. The body was hidden in a garage for three days before being moved to the grave.

Boy, 11, Improves After Mangled Leg Rebuilt
An 11 year old boy named Jeffrey Anderson from Dutchess County New York, visiting Owego, New York, had his mangled left leg reconstructed after a hayloading elevator crushed it. Doctors at Robert Packer Hospital performed a three and a half hour operation and say the bone will live and the leg should heal normally. A farmhand recovered a 10 inch section of the limb and rushed it to the hospital. A Washington note about the penitentiary asking for dental tools is included in the same dispatch.
