Two Russian men drifted to Alaska seeking mushrooms and told Coast Guard authorities they wish to stay. Coast Guard officials in Washington confirmed the two smelter workers from Lauren tia on the Siberian coast near Wales asked for asylum after drifting two days in heavy fog in the Bering Strait. They would be brought to Anchorage for processing.
