A ten year old boy from Union City was found to have shot his left foot with a revolver while playing with the gun this afternoon. State Police say another boy was nearby but uninvolved. troopers continued investigation and the injured youth was admitted after emergency surgery.
William Robertson 44 of New Kensington dies after a molten slag dish spilled in the melt shop at Allegheny Sodium Steel Corp Brackenridge works. Frank Calley 54 of Natrona Heights is in serious condition as slag burns cover their bodies. A spokesman said slag flowed into the moaker's office as the two men stood nearby.
Five people were injured in a three car collision on Route 8 north of Union City at 4 45 p m Saturday. Ronald Thoms 24 Union City slowed to turn left and was rear ended by Paul Hopson 17 of Wattsburg. Thoms car spun into oncoming traffic and was struck by Johnny Lewis 19 of Sherman. Passengers included Hannah Herzog 47 Edward Herzog 17 and Gary Combs 18. Injuries ranged from cuts to back and head lacerations. Damage totaled about 3000 with Thoms car costing 2000. Combs Hopson and Thoms admitted for treatment. Herzogs treated and released. Possible charges pending.
More than 540 residents in and around Columbus received Sabin oral polio vaccine as Type IE immunizations were given at the fire hall. Type IIL will be offered again Sunday and in October to local residents including Bear Lake Lottsville Wrightsville Spring Creek. turnout described as highly satisfactory by program chair Mrs. Lowell Par and organizer Mrs. Fargo. In Seoul, a general court martial sentenced Prof. Richard D. Jensen of Arlington Washington to 15 years imprisonment for slaying a Korean girl.
