Slash School Budget To Avert Tax Increase
The April 24 special board of education meeting completed the 1931 operations budget at 3,031,980.50 dollars with tax millage held at 14. An immediate 275,000 dollar cut came from dropping planned improvements 220,000 dollars and scrapping summer schools for the first time in fifteen years. The district will use part of a 260,000 dollar bond issue never floated, with 150,000 dollars offsetting the operating appropriation.
