Fear of Communist Intervention in Korea Sparks Alarm
Washington officials warned of possible Communist incursion from the north as internal strife in South Korea grows. U.S. strategists estimate a larger, better equipped northern army than the combined U.S. and South Korean forces below the 38th Parallel. Dispatches say the 15th Korean Division moved into Seoul to aid order, but military leaders see no direct risk to U.N. troops along the armistice line. South Korean soldiers make up a sizable share of some units.
