Seaver Seeks No Hitter as Mets Rally in Close Win
Tom Seaver, holder of three Cy Young Awards and franchise icon, has frequently flirted with a no hitter but never achieved one. He pitched a one hitter Sunday against the Chicago Cubs, his fifth such game, as the Mets won with timely offense including a Kingman homer and Boisclair RBIs. The day also featured Dodgers over Giants, Braves over Astros, Expos over Phillies, Cardinals over Pirates, and Reds over Padres with Zachry contributing offensively.
