A lone bandit on the westbound Overland Limited robbed passengers in the observation car and dining car as the train approached Chicago. Loot was estimated between $6,000 and $7,000 with several named victims including W. H. Crocker of Crocker National Bank and H. Ryinsell of Cheyenne. The robber fled into darkness after pulling an emergency cord and escaping before city limits. James J. Jeffries was among the passengers.

Supreme Court Refuses Stay Of Freight Rate Injunction
Washington April 15 The Supreme Court refused to stay a West Virginia federal court injunction that would cut freight rates on soft coal to Great Lake ports. The order, granted to railroads shipping coal from Tennessee Kentucky Virginia and West Virginia, lowers the rate by 20 cents a ton and favors Southern fields over Pennsylvania and Ohio soft coal. Chief Justice Taft referred the motion to the full court, which denied it after argument. The Interstate Commerce Commission plans to appeal, but the lower rates will take effect immediately while the merits are considered.
