Simple memorial for FDR erected amid competing plans
A 6 ft 10 in white Vermont marble block memorializing Franklin D. Roosevelt was placed in the center of the Archives Building green. Designed by Eric Gugler, it bears the inscription In Memory of Franklin Delano Roosevelt 1882 1945. A contributor box was sealed in the base. A separate $4.5 million plan for eight 130-foot slabs around a Roosevelt statue has raised no funds and faces opposition from the Roosevelt family.
