McKean County Tax Rate Remains At 5 Mills

Kane Pa. county commissioners kept real estate and occupation valuations at 5 mills the same as the past three years to preserve a $14 mill tax rate for another year despite 1945 assessments showing a $62.2 million drop from 191 valuations. With a reduced valuation and budget shortfall, about $60,000 must be pulled from the county’s general cash balance of $236,116.60. The valuation drop stems from a significant reduction in oil production this year.
